It is a series of changes that
is part of a natural biological process and it includes hormonal,
physical and psychosocial changes.
Oestrogen is the female hormone that controls how your body matures and changes. During menopause the amount of oestrogen in the body begins to decline and the tissues that line the vagina and urethra become drier, thinner and less elastic.
This decreased lubrication means you may experience burning or itching as well an increased risk of infections of the urinary tract or vagina. And it can weaken the bladder control muscles.
Weight gain and decreased physical activity also contribute to increased bladder control problems during this time.
